Our 75 acres has been largely untouched for at least half, if not longer, of the previous forty years. Things were allowed to grow and establish themselves undisturbed for a long time and we intend to respect that.
As we get to know the nooks and crannies around the farm we are discovering all sorts of things that we can forage and make use of whilst ensuring these valuable resources are not depleted.
We make use of ramps, elderflower, blackberries and nettles in the spring and summer. Apples and hickory nuts follow in the Autumn. There’s more to discover such as mushrooms with the help of experts who often visit.
Fallen trees offer the opportunity to work with local craftspeople to give them new life and the wood burning stoves on our farm are fueled with logs from the woods.
